OZARK, Mo. – Drury outfielder
Stephen Randazzo belted a two-run home run in the bottom of the sixth to help lift the Panthers past McKendree 8-6 at US Baseball Park in Ozark on Sunday.
The win gave Drury three wins in their four-game series against the Bearcats and raised their record to 18-6. It also gave the team a 3-1 start in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. McKendree, who won the first game of the series Friday night, fell to 6-16 and 1-3 in the league.
The Panthers trailed 6-5 going to the sixth.
Nikko Calabro drew a one-out walk, and one batter later, Randazzo sent a ball over the fence in rightfield to put Drury in front 6-5. It was the sixth home run of the season for the junior from Chesterfield, Missouri.
Drury added an insurance run in the eighth on an RBI-single but
DJ McNew.
Panthers reliever
Jared Gay (1-0) got the win pitching 1.1 scoreless innings and
Nate Boyle pitched the ninth inning for his first save. Evan Spears (0-3) took the loss for McKendree.
Calabro ended the game 2 for 4 at the plate with two RBI's and a double.
Drury is idle until Friday when they start a four-game series at Maryville starting at 2 pm in St. Louis.
