SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Drury men's basketball head coach
Chris Foster has announced another addition to his 2022-23 roster. Brock Wakefield has transferred to Drury from The Citadel and becomes the team's third NCAA-I transfer on next year's squad.
Wakefield was the Class 1 Player of the Year in Missouri as a senior at South Iron High School in 2021. The 6-3, 180-pound guard led his team to a state championship and a 25-4 record that season and was also selected to the All-State team for a third year in a row. Wakefield averaged 20.4 points and 6.8 rebounds as a junior while leading South Iron to a 29-1 mark, and he put up 20 points per game as a sophomore in 2018-19.
He was named the Black River League Player of the Year for three straight seasons and was an all-conference and all-district selection for three years.
"We're excited to add Brock to the Drury basketball family," said Foster. "He is a talented and versatile basketball player that will have an immediate impact in our program. Brock is a natural leader and has a great work ethic that will be contagious to everyone in our program."
Wakefield averaged 4.6 points for The Citadel last year scoring 37 points in eight games. He made 14 of his 25 shots while going 8 for 16 from three-point range. He scored 13 points and had six rebounds in his collegiate debut on November 12, 2021, against Morris.
