Panthers at Bearcats in Highway 13 Catfight
The Highway 13 Catfight is on for Thursday as Drury takes on Southwest Baptist in Bolivar for a 7:30 pm tipoff. Thursday's game is the only regular season contest scheduled between the two teams.
 
Drury is 7-12, 3-8 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference and has gone 4-4 since Dec. 31. After a 72-60 win over William Jewell last Thursday, the Panthers fell at home to Truman State, 79-63, a game they owned a 34-27 lead in at halftime.
 
Southwest Baptist is 13-6 and 5-6 in the GLVC. The Bearcats split two games last week, picking up a 92-66 win at home over Rockhurst, then fell at William Jewell 85-69. SBU has not won or lost back-to-back games since they won five straight Dec. 12-Jan. 7. The Bearcats lead the GLVC in rebounding with a +8.5 margin on the boards.
 
Logan Applegate leads Drury in scoring averaging 12.4 points per game. The freshman from Nevada, Missouri, is shooting 45 percent from three-point range, hitting 46 of 102.
 
The Bearcats are led by Quinn Nelson, who is putting in 14.6 points per game. He has made 55 three's this season going 55 for 128 from behind the arc for a .430 percentage. Nelson has also sunk 43 of his 48 free throw attempts (90 percent).
 
Drury is back on the road Saturday when they travel to Rockhurst for a 3 pm game against the Hawks in Kansas City, Missouri.

Drury leads the all-time series against Southwest Baptist 41-22. SBU won the lone meeting last year, 70-61, on Jan. 31 in Bolivar. The other regular season game was canceled due to COVID-19 issues on the Drury roster. Southwest Baptist has won four of the last five games between the two teams, but the Panthers had won all eight encounters before that.
