Drury puts away McKendree 96-57

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- The third-ranked Drury Lady Panthers spotted visiting McKendree two early baskets, then went on a 16-0 scoring run to open the game and coasted to a 96-57 win over the Bearcats Thursday night at the O'Reilly Family Event Center. The win extended Drury's current winning streak to eight games in a row.

Balanced scoring was a key factor for the Lady Panthers as they improved to 12-1 overall and 5-0 in Great Lakes Valley Conference play.  Drury placed five players in double figures, paced by senior Alana Findley, who finished with a team-best 19.

"Five in double figures, that's nice and that's something we know about this group," said Drury head coach Amy Eagan.  "They just share the ball so well.  They understand that on some nights we'll have mismatches and on other nights we have advantages and they just share it to get things done."

The Lady Panthers used their early scoring blitz to move to a 38-25 at halftime, then outscored McKendree 33-13 in the third period to put the game out of reach.

Joining Findley in double figures were graduate student Kaylee DaMitz-Holt, who finished with 15, junior Allie Clevenger had 14, graduate student Terrion Moore tossed down 11 and senior Mia Henderson added 10 points, all in the second half.

"I think the biggest question for us coming out of Christmas break was what is our conditioning going to be and that's a lot of because of how we play, and I thought tonight we looked pretty good," added Eagan.

The Bearcats, now 6-6 overall and 3-2 in GLVC play, failed to place a scorer in double figures and were led by a nine-point effort from Madyson Harper.

The Lady Panthers finished at 51 percent shooting for the game hitting on 38 of 75 attempts.  They outrebounded the Bearcats 39-33 and forced a total of 23 turnovers, while committing just six for the game.

The Lady Panthers return to action on Saturday for a 3pm game against Indianapolis at the O'Reilly Family Event Center.
