SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The seven-time defending Great Lakes Valley Conference champions are picked to finish second in the conference in the preseason coaches' poll released by the GLVC today.
The Drury received four first-place votes and 150 points in the poll to finish as the preseason runner-up. Lewis finished in first place with eight first-place votes. Indianapolis was picked third and Truman State was picked fourth.
The Lady Panthers return six letter winners, including the unanimous GLVC Freshman of the Year and Third Team All-GLVC Selection Reece Schaaf. Drury added eight newcomers, including six transfers. All-GLVC selection
Beth Matas Martin was added as a graduate transfer from Quincy and
Makaiya Brooks, who broke the Springfield Public Schools all-time scoring record at Central, transferred to Drury from Memphis.
Kaci Bailey will enter her first year as head coach at Drury and her third season as a collegiate head coach. Last year, the Lady Panthers went 31-2, 20-0 in the GLVC, won their seventh-straight conference championship, and reached the NCAA-II regional semifinals.

The NCAA-II women's basketball national poll has not been announced yet.
The Lady Panthers will play an exhibition game on Thur., Nov. 2, against Lyon at 5:45 p.m., then will open the regular season on Friday, Nov. 10, against Kentucky Wesleyan at 5 p.m. in the Trevecca Nazarene Classic, in Nashville, Tennessee. Drury takes on Trevecca Nazarene at 6 p.m. the following day.
