SPRINGFIELD, Mo.– The Drury Panthers opened their eighth season of wrestling with their annual intra-squad dual at Weiser Gym on Thursday night.
Drury's split squad competed in nine bouts and in eight different weight classes. The Scarlet team edged the Gray squad 20-15.
The Scarlet squad got a win by Technical Fall at 141 pounds from
Trevor Christian, a junior from Lebanon, Mo., and in the 197-pound class by sophomore
BK Seago.
The Scarlet team won five of the nine bouts as
Deagan Fugitt (125),
Eric Holt (174), and Avery Rutherford also picked up wins by decision.
The Gray team's
Joe Kuster debuted for Drury, and the freshman from Jefferson City earned a Technical Fall victory in the 157-pound division.
Jeremiah Halter, a sophomore at 184 pounds, also won by Technical Fall.
The Panthers open the regular season on Nov. 4 in the Kaufman, Brand, Bayly Open hosted by Maryville in St. Louis, Mo.
