EVANSVILLE, Ind.— The Drury men's cross country team came in 9th in the 32-team field at the NCAA-II Midwest Regional Championship in Evansville, Indiana, on Saturday.
Grand Valley State, ranked third nationally, won the regional championship with 48 points. Lewis, number 12 in NCAA-II, was second with 104 points, and 14
th-ranked Saginaw Valley State finished third with 112.
The Panthers had 267 points to finish 9th, eight spots better than their finish last year. Drury was 23 points better than 10
th-place Wisconsin Parkside.
Tyler Harris, a freshman from Springfield-Kickapoo, was Drury's top finisher and came in 27
th among 214 runners with a time in the 10-kilometer race of 31:39.88, the second-fastest 10-k time in school history. Thomas Schuster, a freshman from Willard, was 43
rd (32:06.50, a time that ranks 4
th in Drury history), and
Ethan Haynes was 47
th (32:11.68, 6
th best ever at DU).
Trent Patterson came in 57
th (32:17.93, 8
th best in DU history), and Santiago Nunez finished 94
th (33:08.18).
Ransom Allen from Wayne State (Mich.) won the individual title with a time of 30:37.99.
Drury will wait for at-large opportunities for the NCAA-II National Championship held on Nov. 18 in Joplin, Mo.
