SPRINGFIELD, Mo.– The Drury Panthers ended the regular season in the GLVC Championship duals at the O'Reilly Family Event Center on Sunday and came away with a split as they lost to number six Indianapolis 27-14, but bounced back to defeat Maryville 21-19.
 
Drury won three of their first four match-ups against sixth-ranked Indianapolis, but the Greyhounds closed the match with four-straight wins for a 27-14 victory.
 
Caden Howard opened the match with a win at 125 points with a 4-2 win over Aiden Sprague. Peter Kuster, ranked second nationally at 141 pounds, battled Ray Rioux for a 5-2 win. Lebanon native Trevor Christian earned a 4-2 win by sudden victory over Nathan Conley at 149 pounds, and Will Kuster posted a 17-0 win by Technical Fall over Jackson Hoover.
 
The Panthers closed the day with a 21-19 win over Maryville. Drury held off the Saints after building a 21-6 lead off a win by Fall from Ethan Smith in the 174-pound match. Caden Howard started the Panthers off with a win by Fall at 125 pounds as he pinned his opponent in 6:39.
 
Brandon Borlinghaus earned a win by decision at 133 pounds, and 141-pounder Peter Kuster edged Taylor Jokerst 4-3. Will Kuster also got past his opponent at 165 in a 3-2 decision. 
 
"Anytime you can win against a tough team like Maryville, and that's our first time beating them, that's a benchmark for us," said Drury head coach James Reynolds. "Every single guy, up and down the line-up, really pushed themselves hard. There are things that we can still work on, but our effort level was really high."
 
The Panthers will have two weeks to prepare for the NCAA-II SuperRegional on Feb. 26 in Edmond, Oklahoma.
