Drury faces McKendree in rematch of January thriller
The Drury Panthers take on McKendree on Saturday 3 pm in Lebanon, Illinois in a rematch of a game decided in the final seconds on Jan. 5 in Springfield. Drury battled from behind to win 75-73 at the O'Reilly Family Event Center.
 
McKendree enters this contest 12-12 and 8-9 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. The Bearcats were edged on Thursday at home, 70-68, by Missouri S&T and dropped to ninth place in the GLVC. McKendree is 8-3 at home this season.
 
Drury is 8-17 and 4-13 in the conference. The Panthers lost on Thursday at sixth-ranked Indianapolis, 76-65. Saturday's game is Drury's final road game of the regular season.
 
Drury's win over the Bearcats on Jan. 5 saw them rally from 12 points down with nine minutes remaining. The Panthers got a season-high 31 points from freshman Logan Applegate, who had 20 of his points coming in the second half. Bearcats star Bryson Bultman led McKendree with 25 points and 12 rebounds. Drury forced McKendree into 25 turnovers and sealed the game with free throws in the closing seconds to win by two.
 
The Panthers return home to wrap up the regular season with two games next week. Drury hosts Illinois Springfield on Thursday at 7:45 pm, then will take on Lewis on Saturday at 1 pm in the O'Reilly Family Event Center.

Drury leads the all-time series against McKendree 16-6 and won the earlier match-up, 75-73, in Springfield on Jan. 5. The Panthers have won the last four games against the Bearcats, including two wins over McKendree in 2020-21 that both went overtime. McKendree was coached by current DU head coach Chris Foster that season.
