Panthers return home to face Maryville
After two weeks of road games, the Panthers are back home on Thursday when they host Maryville for a 7:45 pm game at the O'Reilly Family Event Center.
Â
Thursday's game is a rematch from a Dec. 3 contest in St. Louis, won by Maryville, 67-66, on a free throw with less than a second remaining. Drury tied the game with 10 seconds left on a lay-up by
Brock Wakefield, and the Panthers appeared to push the game to overtime getting a blocked shot with four seconds left, then forced a missed attempt by Maryville on an in-bounds play. The Saints were awarded free throws, however, with 0.6 on the clock following a video review that resulted in Drury being called for a foul with less than a second remaining, and Jaeden Smith sank one of two free throws to break a 66-66 tie.
Â
The Panthers are 7-15 and 3-11 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Thursday's game is Drury's first since an 81-73 loss at Missouri S&T on Feb. 2.
Â
Maryville is 13-10 and 6-9 in the league. The Saints are coming off a 71-66 loss to William Jewell at home on Saturday.
Â
Drury is back at home on Saturday when they host Missouri-St. Louis for Homecoming on Sat., Feb. 11 at 3 pm in the O'Reilly Family Event Center.
Â
