SPRINGFIELD, Mo.— The Drury Panthers face Maryville in the opening round of the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament on Thursday at 12:30 pm at Mountain Dew Park in Marion, Illinois.

Drury is seeded sixth and enters the postseason 27-23 and 17-15 in the GLVC. The Panthers have been idle since April 30 as they had a bye last weekend during the final days of the league regular season. Drury last lost seven straight as they were swept by Quincy on April 28-30 and lost the final three games of a four-game series to Lewis on April 22-23.

Maryville is the number three seed and enter the tournament with a 32-16 record and a 21-11 mark. The Saints won three of four last weekend at home against Missouri S&T.

Maryville went 4-0 against the Panthers during the regular season, with all four games in St. Louis on March 4-5 and none of the four were a part of the GLVC schedule. Two of the four games were one-run contests as the Saints swept a doubleheader on March 4, winning 3-2 and 14-6, and they took both games of the twin bill on March 5, 7-2 and 6-5.

The winner of Thursday's game will advance to Game 7 on the tournament bracket and play the winner of second-seeded Illinois Springfield and the seventh seed, William Jewell, on Friday at 4 pm. The loser of the Drury-Maryville game drops to Game 5 and a 9 am start on Friday and will play the UIS-William Jewell loser.

The double-elimination tournament continues through the championship round on Sunday, with all of the games scheduled in Marion, Illinois.

The Panthers went 2-2 in the conference tournament last year and they are 20-15 all-time at the GLVC Tournament. Drury has won the title three times: 2015, 2014, and 2007. Drury's 2007 title came in the program's inaugural season.
