SPRINGFIELD, Mo.— Drury's Hunter Jowers became the first DU men's golfer in nearly four years to be named Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Week as the league bestowed the honor on him for his play earlier this week. 

Jowers, a junior from Jonesboro, Ark., earned the GLVC award after shooting a three-over-par 216 and finishing tied for 14th in the 96-player field at the 25th NSU Golf Classic at the Muskogee Golf Club in Oklahoma on Monday and Tuesday. He opened the tournament shooting a two-over-par 73, then posted a second-round 72 on Monday. In Tuesday's final round, Jowers shot an ever-par 71. 

Jowers is the first Drury men's player to win the conference honor since Clayton Larsen won the award on Oct. 10, 2019. 

The Drury men's golf team returns to action Sept. 25-26 in the MSSU Fall Invitational, hosted by Missouri Southern, at Shangri La Golf Resort in Monkey Island, Oklahoma.
