Panthers Entertain Graceland
The Drury Panthers host Graceland on Thursday for a 6 pm game in the O'Reilly Family Event Center.

Drury is 1-1 after a season-opening win at Thomas More on Nov. 8, 63-54, and a loss at home to Rogers St., 77-69, last Saturday.

Graceland entered the week with a 6-0 record. The Yellowjackets play on Wednesday night at Culver-Stockton before coming to Springfield.

Guard Zach Howell has topped 20 points in his first two games at Drury. The former Springfield Catholic product transferred to DU from Wisconsin-Milwaukee last summer and scored 21 points in the season-opener at Thomas More, then 23 in his home debut last Saturday against Rogers State.

Thursday's game is the first meeting between Drury and Graceland since Dec. 30, 2009, when the Panthers won 111-62 at Weiser Gym. Prior to that game, the two teams had not played one another since 1983. Drury leads the all-time series 20-5 with only one game played in the Panthers Division II era.

After Thursday's game, Drury is idle until next week when they host the Doubletree Thanksgiving Classic on Nov. 26-27. The Panthers take on Union (Tenn.) next Tuesday at 7:45 pm, then will face Central Missouri on Wednesday at 7:45 pm. The event includes Illinois Springfield taking on Central Missouri at 3:15 pm on Tuesday and Union on Wednesday at 3:15 pm.

About The Yellowjackets
Graceland is off to a 6-0 start, not including their Wednesday game at Culver-Stockton. Among their six wins, the Yellowjackets have two conference victories in the Heart of America Athletic Conference.

Graceland won the 2018 NAIA National Championship with an 83-80 win in overtime over Louisiana State-Alexandria. The Yellowjackets went 21-9 last year and 17-7 in conference play.

Graceland is located in Lamoni, Iowa, and among its alumni is former US Olympian Bruce (Caitlyn) Jenner, who won the gold medal in the decathlon in the 1976 Summer Olympic Games in Montreal. Drury and Graceland were in the same conference for 11 years, during which the Yellowjackets were members of the Missouri College Athletic Union from 1960 to 1971.
