DALLAS, Tex.— The Drury men's swimming & diving team finished third and the DU women's squad came in fourth at the Southern Methodist University Invitational at the Robson and Lindley Aquatics Center in Dallas, Texas. The four-day event concluded on Saturday.
 
The Drury men's team, ranked third in NCAA-II, earned a total of 727 points to come in third among seven teams. Stanford, ranked eighth in Division I, won the event with 1043.5 points, while SMU was second with 957.5 points. The Panthers finished ahead of fourth-place Hawaii, who had 545 points.
 
The DU women's squad, also ranked third in NCAA-II, had 687.5 points to finish fourth among eight teams. Miami (Fla.), ranked 25^th in D-I, won the meet with 936 points, while Hawaii was second with 770, and SMU was third with 763.5 points. The Panthers finished ahead of fifth-place North Texas, who had 83 points.
 
Drury was the only Division II team on both the men's and women's side of the event.
 
The Panthers broke five team records in addition to two NCAA-II records during the meet. On Saturday, Jonette Laegreid set an NCAA-II record in the 200 Breast with a time of 2:08.86 during preliminary heats. Also on Saturday, Drury's Davi Mourao, set a team record in the men's 200 Breast (1:54.38). Earlier in the week, the Drury men's 400 Medley Relay team set a Division II record (3:06.83), and their 800 Free Relay team also set a team record (7:18.92). Ivan Adamchuk also set a Drury record in the 200 IM (1:43.13)  
 
Men's Highlights

• Matheus Siniscalchi was seventh in the 1650 Free, completing the event in 15:28.41
• Ivan Adamchuk was third in the 200 Back (1:42.49) and Alvaro Zornoza was eighth (1:44.70)
• Yuri Cabral posted a seventh place finish in the 100 Free with a time of 43.65
• Davi Mourao was third in the 200 Breast and he set a program record with a time of 1:54.38
• Alejandro Villarejo came in fourth in the 200 Fly (1:44.00)
• Drury's 400 Free Relay team finished sixth as Viktor Khnykin, Villarejo, Zornoza, and Mike Jasinski posted a time of 2:57.54

Women's Highlights

• Aisling Allen started the final night of finals with a seventh place finish in the 1650 Free with a time of 17:50.98
• Lexie Waller was sixth in the 200 Back (2:00.93)
• Jonette Laegreid won the 200 Breast with a time of 2:09.37 and, earlier in the day, set a Division II record in the preliminary heats posting a 2:08.86
• Claire Conover was the runner-up behind Laegreid in the 200 Breast (2:12.09) and Gwen Bergum was fifth (2:15.12)
• Mellie Wijk was second in the 200 Fly (1:58.00) and Maria Munoz was sixth (2:02.29)
• Drury's 400 Free Relay team came in fifth behind the efforts of Ellie Walker, Mellie Wijk, Nikol Maniko, and Ashlyn Moore (3:23.95)

 
Both Drury swim teams return to the pool on Dec. 6 at William Jewell.
