Hot Hawks get past Drury

The Drury Panthers were unable to contain a hot-shooting Quincy ballclub on Thursday night and fell to the visiting Hawks 92-59 at the O'Reilly Family Event Center.

The Hawks shot better than 60 percent from the field for most of the contest, and finished at 57 percent for the game and turned back the Panthers, snapping Drury's early season four-game winning streak and leaving Drury 5-2 overall and 1-1 in Great Lakes Valley Conference action.

The Hawks closed out the first half on a 20-7 scoring run after the Panthers had forged a 22-all tie and held a 42-29 advantage at the break, then quickly expanded their lead to nineteen points to open the second half and Drury was not able to cut into the margin down the stretch.

The Panthers got a 17-point scoring effort from sophomore Juok Riak to pace their offense. Sophomore Zach Howell also reached double figures and finished with 11, while freshman Colin Hardrick closed with 10.

The Hawks, who improved to 4-4 on the season and to 1-1 in the GLVC, got a game-high 20 points from Jake Hamilton and 19 points from Max Booher, as Quincy also finished ten of twenty-five shooting from three-point range.

The Panthers are back in action on Saturday, December 7th, when they host Truman State in a 3 pm game during Hall of Fame Day at the O'Reilly Family Event Center.
