ST. LOUIS, Mo.– The Drury Panthers finished the regular season with two losses at the Great Lakes Valley Conference Duals hosted by Maryville in St. Louis, Missouri on Sunday. The Panthers lost to the host Saints, 39-13, then were shut out by ninth-ranked McKendree 46-0.
Drury earned three wins against Maryville, with
Caden Howard,
Will Kuster, and
Ethan Smith picking up wins.
Caden Howard defeated Sam Shafer in the 125-pound match, 11-5, as the senior from Lenexa, Kansas, raised his record to 11-5 on the year.
Will Kuster returned to the mat for the first time since Jan. 14 and won by Technical Fall, defeating Luke Ebers, 22-7, in the 157-pound bout.
Ethan Smith won the 174-pound match-up, by Technical Fall in a 16-1 win over Brian Thorpe.
McKendree, ranked ninth in NCAA-II, won each of the nine contested matches in Drury's second dual on Sunday.
Caden Howard had his six-match winning streak halted in a 10-5 decision against Jason Stope.
Ethan Smith battled Matt Ortiz to a 1-1 tie in the 174-pound match but lost the tie-breaker.
Jaxon Glenn also battled to a 4-3 loss in the heavyweight contest against Caleb Guise.
Sunday's duals ended the regular season for Drury, and the Panthers will head to the NCAA-II SuperRegional, March 1-2 in Indianapolis, Indiana.
