SPRINGFIELD, Mo.— Missouri S&T closed out their series at Drury with an 8-1 win over the Panthers at Mark Worley Field at Meador Park on Sunday.
The Miners earned a split of the four-game series and improved to 11-10 and 2-6 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. The Panthers went to 7-10 and 5-3 in the GLVC.
Miners starter David Kephart (2-1) got the win, going seven innings, allowing just one run on four hits with one walk and two strikeouts. Missouri S&T opened the game with win runs in the first and second inning, then gave themselves a cushion with three runs in the fourth.
Drury didn't get on the board until the seventh when
Tyler Bastunas drove in a run with a ground ball. The Miners responded with three runs in the eighth to put the game out of reach.
Jared Gay (0-1) took the loss for the Panthers. Conner Bain went 2 for 4 at the plate for Drury, while Garrett Weiner was 2 for 4 with three runs batted in for Missouri S&T.
Drury returns to action on Tuesday when they host ninth-ranked Missouri Southern State at 4 pm at Mark Worley Field at Meador Park.
