SPRINGFIELD, Mo.— Third-ranked Central Missouri rallied for all 10 of their runs in the final three innings as they handed Drury a 10-2 loss at Mark Worley Field at Meador Park in Springfield on Tuesday.
The Panthers grabbed an early lead as
Max Elmer drove in a run with a single in the third inning, then
Brandon Holdren's base-hit in the fourth gave Drury a 2-0 lead in the fourth.
Drury carried the lead to the seventh inning, but Central Missouri went in front with three runs in the seventh, then took control with a six-run eighth inning.
Tyler Bastunas went 2 for 3 at the plate for the Panthers. Drury starter
Cade Waits pitched 4.1 scoreless innings and allowed only one and one walk with two strikeouts, but did not figure in the decision.
JD McReynolds (1-1) got the win for the Mules.
Drury fell to 2-7, while Central Missouri lifted their record to 16-3.
The Panthers return to action on Friday when they open a four-game series at Missouri-St. Louis.
