QUINCY, Ill.— The Drury Panthers extended their winning streak to nine games as they swept Quincy in a doubleheader on Saturday in Quincy, Illinois. Drury defeated the Hawks 12-3 in six innings in the first game, then won game two, 7-3.
The Panthers raised their record to 21-18 and 9-5 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Quincy dropped to 14-20 and 3-7 in the GLVC.
AJ Agers homered twice in game one as the Panthers won by run-rule for the fifth time this season. Agers put Drury on the board with a solo homer in the second inning, then added a two-run shot in the third.
The Panthers led 6-3 after five innings, then added six runs in the top of the sixth to take a nine-run lead.
Brooklyn LaChappa and
Sophia Luetticke both went 3 for 4 at the plate for Drury and both added a run and an RBI.
Kaley Adzick (6-3) got the win and
Bailee Nixon pitched the last three innings for her second save. Abbey Hultze (7-8) took the loss for the Hawks.
Victoria Garland and
Gracie Thomas both belted home runs as the Panthers won game two to compete the sweep. Garland went 3 for 4 with two runs and two RBIs.
Rylee Kolb was 3 for 5 for Drury with a run scored and an RBI.
The Panthers built a 7-0 lead and Quincy scored all three of their runs in the bottom of the seventh.
AJ Agers (5-4) got a complete-game win going seven innings and allowed six hits, three runs and one earned run with one walk and four strikeouts. KJ Weller (4-7) took the loss for the Hawks.
Drury continues their weekend roadtrip on Sunday when they travel to Illinois Springfield for a noon doubleheader.
