SPRINGFIELD, Mo.– Drury women's basketball head coach
Kaci Bailey announced the signing of transfer Josie Storey, who played the last two seasons at NCAA-I Tennessee-Martin.
Storey, a 5-10 guard from Mountain View, Arkansas, played in 31 games and started 27 times for a UT Martin squad that reached the NCAA Tournament. She averaged 6.7 points, shot 43 percent from three-point range, and 75 percent from the free throw line while averaging 28.6 minutes per game. Storey also averaged two rebounds and 1.6 assists per contest last season. She hit six three-pointers and scored a season-high 20 points in a game against Ohio Valley Conference champion Southern Indiana and scored in double-figures seven times last year.
"We are excited to add Josie to our Lady Panther family," said Bailey. "She is a proven scorer who adds length and versatility to our guard rotation. In addition to her ability to contribute on the offensive end she brings with her a strong defensive presence, as she defended the other team's best player this past season at UT Martin."
Storey played in all 30 games as a freshman and made 20 starts for the Seahawks. She averaged 6.2 points, 2.1 rebounds, 1.6 assists, and 1.4 steals in her first collegiate season. Storey was named the league's Freshman of the Week on Jan. 17 of that year and had a 20-point game, including a 17-point fourth quarter, against Southern Indiana. She notched a career-high eight steals against the same team two weeks later.
Josie helped Mountain View High School to back-to-back state championships in Arkansas, winning titles in 2019 and 2020, while her father, Randall Storey, was the head coach. She averaged 25 points during her senior season, which featured a career-high 37-point point game, and she was an all-state selection for the second time in her high school career. Storey averaged 14.2 points as a junior but put in 17 points per game and had three double-doubles during her team's state tournament run. She was an all-conference and all-state tournament honoree multiple times in her high school career.
Storey plans to major in Business Management with an emphasis in Sports Management at Drury.
She will join a squad in 2024-25 that returns eight letter winners and three starters from a team that went 25-7, 18-4 in the conference, and reached the NCAA-II Tournament for the 21
st time in the team's 24-year history last year. The Lady Panthers will also add
Rhi Gibbons (G, Soph., Nixa, Mo.) and
Kaylee King (G., Fr., Ellington, Mo.) who both return after a medical redshirt season,
Jazz Gray (G., Soph., Pattonville, Mo.) who was a redshirt transfer in 2023-24, and high school signee Zoe Newland (G, Fr., Pattonville, Mo.).
