Lady Panthers return home to face McKendree
The Drury Lady Panthers return from four straight games on the road to face McKendree in a pivotal Great Lakes Valley Conference match-up on Thursday night in the O'Reilly Family Event Center. Tipoff is at 5:45 pm.
 
Both teams enter Thursday's game 6-1 in the conference, trailing only Lewis (12-1, 6-0) in the league standings. Drury is 10-4 overall and coming off a loss at Missouri S&T, 63-57, on Saturday. The Bearcats are 10-3 and won at home over Truman State, 72-60, last weekend.
 
Drury and McKendree are the two top-scoring teams in the GLVC. The Lady Panthers are averaging 77.9 points per game, while the Bearcats average a nearly identical 77.8. McKendree leads the league shooting with a .473 shooting percentage and Drury is second at .452 from the field.
 
The Lady Panthers have never lost to McKendree as they enter Thursday's game with a 17-0 all-time record against the Bearcats. Drury won the lone meeting last year, 87-75, in the O' on Feb. 17.
 
After Thursday's game, the Lady Panthers host Maryville on Saturday at 1 pm in the O'Reilly Family Event Center.
 
GLVC stat leaders
Drury guard Caitlynn Daniels leads the GLVC in free throw shooting. The graduate student from Robins, Iowa, is 34 for 38 and .895 from the foul line to lead the league. Daniels also ranks second in the conference in assists, averaging 6.1 and she is 13th in the GLVC in scoring, averaging 13.4.
 
Sara Mendel is sixth in the GLVC in rebounding, averaging 8.1 boards, and the sophomore from Ava, Mo., is second in blocks with 1.4 per game.
 
Rhi Gibbons is 11th in the GLVC in scoring, averaging 13.9 points.
 
About the Bearcats
McKendree has the last two GLVC Players of the Week. Clare Breden won the latest award after averaging 24 points, 2.5 steals, and 2 assists in two wins last week. Breden 16 for 33 from the field (48 percent), and was 50 percent from three-point range, going 5 for 10. She scored 29 on Thursday vs. William Jewell. Forward Baylie Parks was Player of the Week the week prior, averaging 19.5 points, 10.5 rebounds, 4 assists and 2.5 steals in two games while shooting 52 percent from the floor (16 for 31).
 
Parks is second in the conference in scoring, averaging 17.2 points; she is first in rebounding (10 per game) and second in field goal percentage (.564).
 
Breden, a First Team All-GLVC selection last year, ranks sixth in scoring (16.1 ppg) and is fourth in assists (3.8 apg).
