WICHITA, Kan. – The Drury Wrestling team went 2-1 on Saturday with wins against Newman and Ouachita Baptist at the Jet Duals.
 
In the first dual of the day, Drury lost to Sioux Falls, 21-18. The Panthers won from Bryson Humphries, Trevor Christian, Will Kuster, and Wade Stanton. The Cougars won three of the four final matches, clinching the win.
 
Drury was able to bounce back from the loss and defeat Newman, 28-21. Nate Wishne secured six points for the Panthers in the 141-weight class via fall to put DU up 12-6. Drury would rattle off three of the next four matches to push their advantage to 22-9, including wins from the redshirt freshmen, Gaven Bremenkamp and Joe Kuster. The Jets would take two of the final three matches to keep it close.
 
The day closed with a 25-19 win over Ouachita Baptist. Humphries, Wishne, and Christian stayed hot at the top of the lineup for the Panthers to gain a quick 12 points. After dropping the 157 class, Drury took 165 (Will Kuster), 174 (Jeremiah Halter), and 184 (Nate Brower). The Tigers would take the final two matches.
 
Drury had Bryson Humphries and Trevor Christian go 3-0 on the day. Nate Wishne, Will Kuster, and Wade Stanton would finish 2-1.
 
The Panthers will send wrestlers to the Denker Open tomorrow, Sunday, January 19, at Central Missouri before returning home to face fourth-ranked Central Oklahoma on January 24 in Weiser Gym.
