Drury opens the season in Hawaii against Chaminade and Hawaii Pacific
Drury heads to the Aloha State to open the 2025 campaign. The Panthers will match up against Chaminade and Hawaii Pacific for two games apiece.
Â
Drury will have a new lineup in the 2025 season with only three of their top ten bats returning from the 2024 season.Â
Connor Bain is the top returner with a .322 batting average and 33 RBIs a season ago. Four of Drury's top six pitchers, concerning innings pitched, return this season, withÂ
Cody Bahl as the headliner. Bahl pitched in 89.1 innings last season with a team-best 3.43 ERA.Â
Wesley Laaker threw 64.1 innings in 15 appearances. The Panthers finished the 2024 season 27-25 and in third place in the Great Lakes Valley Conference.
Â
Friday and Sunday evening, Drury will face off against Chaminade. The Silverswords are in their second season as a program. In their inaugural season, Chaminade posted a 15-33 record and a last-place finish in the PacWest. In the league's preseason poll, the Silverswords were slated to finish 11th, only ahead of Menlo who is in their first season as a member of the PacWest. Chaminade's all-conference first baseman, Casey Kudell, was named to the PacWest Preseason Watch List. Kudell hit .331 with 17 extra-base hits in 2024.
Â
On Saturday, the Panthers will square off with Hawaii Pacific in a doubleheader. The Sharks recorded a 30-22 record in their 2024 campaign. HPU finished 2024 in third place in the PacWest before getting bounced in the first round of the league's postseason. The PacWest coaches selected HPU to finish fifth in the conference. However, the Sharks did receive one first-place vote. Hawaii Pacific had four players named to the preseason watch list: Skyler Agnew, Daniel Johnson, Ryan Inouye, and Jordan Otjen. Johnson leads these players with a .303 batting average in 2024. Inouye pitched in 19 games out of the bullpen for the Sharks in 2024 with a 2.08 ERA and 13 saves.
Â
Once, the Panthers return to Missouri they will host fourth-ranked Central Missouri on February 11 at Mark Worley Field at Meador Park.
