CHICAGO - Drury D-I hockey jumped to No. 5 in the most recent American Collegiate Hockey Association computer rankings following a successful 2-1-0 trip to Chicago for the ACHA/Capper Hockey Chicago Classic.
Entering the ACHA D1 top-5 for the first time in school history was just one of the multiple milestones achieved over the weekend.
With a 7-2 win in game 1 over the #32-ranked Arizona State University Sundevils, which included goals from senior Francis Young-Menard, juniors
Jamison St. Clair and
Matthew Johnston, sophomores
Luke Aston, and
Anmol Garcha and freshmen
Nolan Bowsher and
Grady Sterling-Ponech. Junior
Brett Sweet picked up his fifth win of the season, stopping 22-of-24 shots.
The win marked the 150
th ACHA DI win for head coach
Jeremy Law, including 42 wins in just a season and a half at Drury. Friday's game was also the 100
th collegiate game for Young-Menard, who began his career at the NCAA DIII level.
Bowsher's goal was the first of his collegiate career, which came less than two weeks after the tragic passing of his junior coach Martin Hak. Bowsher, along with fellow Ridge Meadow Flames alum
Lukas Ravenstein wore special helmet stickers for their former coach throughout the weekend.
Milestones behind them, the Panthers extended their undefeated streak to 16 games the following evening with a 6-3 win over the #9-ranked University of Jamestown Jimmies. Young-Menard and Bowsher picked up where they left off in game 1, each scoring again, with Bowsher picking up two goal on then night. The Panthers also had scoring from junior

Tyson Horiachka.
Sophomore
Jozef Kuchaslo collected his 11
th win of the season, stopping 25-of-28 shots.
The Panthers incredible 16-game winning streak to start the season came to an end in game 3 of the weekend as they fell to the #2-ranked Ohio University Bobcats, 6-2. After going down 3-0 early in the second period, the Panthers fought back, pulling within a goal after a power play goal from Garcha and a momentum shifting shorthanded goal from
Jarrod Gale, but a late period goal from the Bobcats reversed momentum once again and the Panthers dropped their first game of the season.
Next up for the Panthers is the weekend all of Springfield and the Ozarks has been waiting for as they take on the #21-ranked Missouri State University Ice Bears for the first time as a DI program, Dec. 5-6 at Brightspeed Ice Park.
