Panthers Take Third in Division II, 11th Overall at NCAA Triathlon National Championships

TEMPE, Ariz. – Drury triathlon placed third among Division II programs and 11th overall out of 36 teams at the NCAA National Championships on Saturday.
 
The Panthers totaled 650 points to finish third in Division II. Lenoir-Rhyne won the Division II competition with 762 points, and Wingate placed second with 758.
 
Alexis Workman led Drury, placing seventh in Division II and 42nd overall with a time of 1:06:34. Kristina Vestman finished 13th in Division II and 56th overall at 1:08:55. 
 
Tarryn Brumley placed 15th in Division II and 66th overall with a time of 1:10:24, while Cayman Barnes followed in 16th in Division II and 69th overall at 1:10:31. Mayumi Shinozuka rounded out Drury's top five, finishing 18th in Division II and 72nd overall with a time of 1:10:49.
 
Workman earned first-team All-America honors for her top-seven Division II finish. Vestman was named to the second team for finishing within places 8–14, while Brumley, Barnes, and Shinozuka received honorable mention All-America recognition for placing between 15–21.
 
HIGHLIGHTS

  • Alexis Workman placed 7th in Division II and 42nd overall (1:06:34) – First-Team All-American.
  • Kristina Vestman finished 13th in Division II and 56th overall (1:08:55) – Second-Team All-American.
  • Tarryn Brumley placed 15th in Division II and 66th overall (1:10:24) – Honorable Mention All-American.
  • Cayman Barnes finished 16th in Division II and 69th overall (1:10:31) – Honorable Mention All-American.
  • Mayumi Shinozuka placed 18th in Division II and 72nd overall (1:10:49) – Honorable Mention All-American.
  • Shrebi Maharjan finished 22nd in Division II and 82nd overall (1:11:37).
  • Tylor Brino-Dean placed 38th in Division II and 121st overall (1:16:26).
  • The Panthers earned five All-America honors, matching last year's total. 
  • Head coach Terry Dean secured a podium finish across all four competitions this season, including three first-place finishes.
