INDIANAPOLIS – The Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) announced Drury forward
Sara Mendel as the week six Athletic Solutions Women's Basketball Player of the Week.
Mendel, the junior from Ava, Mo., led the Lady Panthers last week in two games with 18.5 points per game on 77.3 percent shooting from the field and 12 rebounds per game. She recorded her fifth and sixth double-doubles of the season, including a career best 23 points and 12 rebounds on 11-13 shooting against Union on December 15. Against Arkansas-Fort Smith on December 20, Mendel scored 14 points and pulled down 12 rebounds with a steal and a block defensively.
The Lady Panthers posted a 1-1 record last week with a 49-47 win at Arkansas-Fort Smith and a 98-75 loss at Union.
The honor is Mendel's first of her career and the first Lady Panther to earn the honor since
Caitlynn Daniels on January 20 of last season.
Drury ended the month of December with a 4-1 record and is off until January 2 when they host Rockhurst in the O'Reilly Family Event Center.
