Highway 13 Catfight Shifts to Bolivar
The second round of the Highway 13 Catfight between the Lady Panthers and Southwest Baptist shifts to Bolivar on Saturday with a 1 pm tipoff in the Meyer Sports Center.
 
Drury is 18-6, 14-3 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference, and they are in third place in the league standings entering play on Saturday. The Lady Panthers have been idle since an 85-56 win at home over William Jewell on Feb. 15.
 
Southwest Baptist is 8-14 and 6-11 in the GLVC. The Bearcats have lost three straight after falling at home to Missouri S&T, 67-54, on Thursday.
 
Drury won the first round of the Catfight with an 84-70 win over Southwest Baptist on Dec. 2 in the O'Reilly Family Event Center. Caitlynn Daniels scored her season-high of 28 points in that game as she went 14 for 14 from the free throw line and added 7 rebounds. Rhi Gibbons added 21 points and Sara Mendel had a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds. LJ Boyland led Southwest Baptist with 23 points.
 
Drury leads the all-time series against SBU 17-3 and is 8-1 all-time in Bolivar. The two teams split the two games last year with the road team winning both.
 
After Saturday's game, the Lady Panthers are back on the road as they travel to Missouri-St. Louis on Thur., Feb. 27.
 
Makaiya Brooks launches into league lead from 3
In conference-only games, Drury guard Makaiya Brooks leads the GLVC in three-point percentage and three-pointers made. The senior from Springfield-Central is shooting .453 from behind in the arc in 17 conference games and is averaging 3.1 made threes per game. She is also the 12th leading scorer in GLVC games, averaging 13.9 points in conference games.
 
About the Bearcats
Southwest Baptist is 6-6 on their home court and fell to the .500 mark at home after falling to Missouri S&T on Thursday.
 
The Bearcats rank second in the conference in forcing turnovers, creating an average of 18 per game. SBU is also second in the league in turnover margin, averaging +2.09 per game.
 
Amber Storr leads the Bearcats in scoring and ranks 13th in the GLVC, averaging 13 points per game.
 
Tori Hamilton ranks second in the GLVC in field goal percentage, shooting .554 from the floor. She is eighth in the conference, averaging 7.4 rebounds per game, and is third in block shots (1.7 per game).
