Drury men's and women's swimming & diving jumps into NCAA-II National meet starting Tuesday

SPRINGFIELD, Mo.— Drury's men's and women's swimming & diving teams begin their quests to win an NCAA-II National Championship on Tuesday as the national meet gets underway and continues through Saturday at the IU Natatorium in Indianapolis, Ind.
 
The Drury men's team has 11 individual qualifiers in 30 events. Their 30 events qualifiers is tied with Tampa for most in the national field. The Panthers have also qualified each of their relay teams – the 800 Free, 200 Medley, 400 Medley, 200 Free and 400 Free. Israel Zavaleta will compete for Drury in both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving competitions.
 
Drury is ranked second in the nation going into the national meet and won the Great Lakes Valley Conference championship in February. Tampa, the defending national champions, is ranked number one in the latest NCAA-II poll, and Indianapolis is third.
 
The Drury women's team has 13 individual qualifiers in 34 events. DU has also qualified in all five relay events and Claire Garrelts will compete in both diving events for the Panthers. Colorado Mesa leads the national field with 17 qualifiers in 37 events.
 
Drury is ranked third in NCAA-II women's swimming and is coming off a GLVC championship last month. Indianapolis is ranked number one and Colorado Mesa is second. Defending champion Nova Southeastern is ranked fourth.
 
Competition begins at noon (Central) on Tuesday with the 800 Free Relay. Preliminary heats for individual events start on Wednesday morning.
 
Drury has won a combined 35 national championships in men's and women's swimming & diving in the NAIA and in NCAA-II. The Panthers have won 12 NCAA-II men's national titles and 10 NCAA-II women's national championships, all under head coach Brian Reynolds. Drury was the national runner-up in men's swimming last year and finished third in the women's national meet in 2024.
