Landry Cochran's two-RBI single gives Drury a split against #8 Augustana

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Drury split a doubleheader with #8 Augustana on Tuesday afternoon behind a go-ahead two-RBI single from Landry Cochran in the sixth inning of game two.

GAME ONE, 4-1 Augustana
Jordyn Foley was tasked with facing All-American Grace Glanzer for game one of the doubleheader. Foley and Glanzer battled back and forth for the entirety of the game.

The Vikings scored first in the third inning pushing one across the plate, but Drury responded to run with one of their own in the fourth after Taylor Hartsell scored on a passed ball.

Knotted up at one, Augustana regained the lead in the fifth with a one. They added two more in the seventh. The Panthers were unable to cut the lead at any point and fell 4-1.

Drury had multiple opportunities to score leaving eight runners on base and striking out eight times. Sophia Luetticke led the offense with a 2-4 effort from the lead-off position. Foley was given the loss after going seven strong innings and striking out five.

GAME TWO, 2-0 Drury
After strong pitching performances in game one from Foley and Glanzer, both the Panthers and Vikings ran it back with strong arms in the circle. For Drury, it was Avery Budde and Augustana ran out Lexi Lander.

Neither offense was able to produce runs until the sixth inning because base runners were limited. Both teams had a combined five runners left on up until the bottom of the sixth.

In the bottom half of the sixth, the Panthers scored two runs. Isabel Ervin started the inning with a single, followed by a single from Avery Budde. Makayla Dodds would run for Budde. A groundout from Taylor Hartsell allowed Ervin and Dodds to advance. A Victoria Garland walk loaded the bases for Landry Cochran. The sophomore left fielder put the ball just past the second baseman to score Dodds and Ervin.

Drury shut down the eighth-ranked team in the seventh inning to secure the win, 2-0.

Avery Budde helped herself in the circle going 2-3 in the batter's box. Budde picked up the win in the complete game effort. Sophia Luetticke recorded one hit in the game to extend her hit streak to 17, which now ties for the longest hit streak in Drury history with Shawna Barrow who got a hit in 17 straight games in 2011.

The win for Drury is only their second top-ten win in program history, the first coming against Indianapolis on April 24, 2021, when the Greyhounds were ranked fifth.
