Drury rolls to two more wins in doubleheader sweep at Northeastern State

TAHLEQUAH, Okla.— Drury maintained their roll on Saturday with a doubleheader sweep of Northeastern State in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, giving the Panthers 11 wins in their last 13 games. Drury won the first game 7-3, then took the second game 11-4 to improve to 15-11 and drop the RiverHawks to 10-15.  
 
Game One
The Panthers broke a 3-3 tie with three runs in the top of the sixth. Paul Pratte led off the inning with a double and gave Drury the lead as he scored from third base on a sacrifice fly by Gabe Russell. Later in the inning, Hesston Gray blasted a two-run homer to give the Panthers a 6-3 lead.
 
Nick Gales (3-2) got the win, going 5.1 innings, allowing four hits, three runs, and two earned runs with three walks and four strikeouts. Cody Bahl made his first appearance since Feb. 23rd and picked up the save going 1.2 innings, and allowed no runs on two hits with one strikeout.
 
Pratte finished the game going 3 for 3 with two RBIs, two runs, two stolen bases and two doubles. Gray ended the game going 2 for 4 with a home run and two RBIs. Landon Willbrand belted his fifth home run of the year, a solo shot in the fourth inning.
 
Game Two
Drury took control of game two with an eight-run second inning. The Panthers got on the board in the first with a solo home run from Jackson Crider, then blew the game open an inning later.
 
Connor Flieg drove in a run with a single, a bases-load hit batter against Crider produced another run, and then Gabe Russell added another run with a single. Hesston Gray belted a grand slam and Landon Willbrand tacked on another run with an RBI single as the Panthers sent 12 batters to the plate in the inning.
 
Markell Dixon (1-1) cruised on the mound, getting the win and going five innings while allowing seven hits, four runs and three earned runs with three walks and five strikeouts. Klayton Kiser and Jared Gay both pitched a scoreless inning in relief.
 
Crider went 3 for 4 at the plate with a double, a home run, two RBIs and two runs scored. Gray was 2 for 4 with a homer, a double and four RBIs.
 
 
The non-conference concludes on Sunday and shifts to Springfield as the Panthers host Northeastern State with a 3 pm first pitch at Mark Worley Field at Meador Park.
