Dr. Sue Rollins inducted into Missouri Sports Hall of Fame

SPRINGFIELD, Mo.–  Former Drury University administrator Dr. Sue Rollins was inducted into the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame today during the organization's Women's Sports Luncheon today in Springfield.
 
Rollins played a major role in Drury University women's athletics for more than 30 years. Hired in 1978 by Dr. Edsel Matthews, she became the coordinator of women's athletics and was instrumental in growing women's sports at Drury. Rollins helped secure funding for full-time coaches, scholarships, and an increase in operating budgets. As a result, Drury women's athletics from two sports in 1978 to 12 sports competing in the NCAA and eight non-NCAA opportunities. Rollins helped Drury steer women's sports from the AIAW (Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women) to the NAIA in 1980, and she served on the first women's NAIA District 16 committee.
 
She assisted Drury's move to the NCAA in the 1990s, and conference affiliations in the Heartland Conference and Great Lakes Valley Conference. She served as Drury's interim Director of Athletics in the early 2000's.
 
In addition to her role in Athletics, Dr. Rollins served as Drury's Dean of Continuing Studies and Graduate programs starting in 1985. Within 20 years, Rollins built Drury's program from two satellite campuses to eight locations, and enrollment grew from 1,200 students to more than 4,000.
 
For her work at Drury and pioneering efforts in women's athletics, she was inducted into the Drury Athletics Hall of Fame in 2013.
