SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Two Drury Athletics promotional videos have been selected as finalists for the 2025 Sports Video Group's College Sports Media Awards.
Created and produced by Drury University's Creative Director of Video Production, Bobby Hearn, "
Own the Elements," Drury's preseason hype video for women's soccer, and "
Monsters," a hype video for swimming & diving entering the national championship meet, were both selected among 15 finalists for Outstadnding Social Media Video in the Collegiate Athletics Championship Division. The Power Division consists of institutions at the 'Power 4' Division I level, while all other collegiate programs are included in the Championship Division. Drury is the only Division II institution among the finalists.
"It is an honor to be named a finalist at the prestigious SVG College Sports Media Awards," said Hearn. "We have never entered the SVG Awards before, so to make two entries with both being named finalists is incredible. I'm thankful to work in a community like Drury that empowers creative freedom, where there are so many amazing stories to tell. I also have to thank both our swimming and diving teams, as well as our women's soccer teams, for enduring multiple late-night filming sessions and going along with my ideas. Drury is an amazing place with amazing people, and it's time for the greater sports world to see it!"

"I'm thrilled by the record number of submissions for the SVG College Sports Media Awards and congratulations to all the Finalists," says Tom Buffolano, chairman of the SVG College Sports Media Awards in association with NACDA. "It is astounding to me how much quality (and volume) comes out of the college video departments. Technology, innovation, and creativity seem to be the biggest drivers of growth, and students continue to be a much more critical part of the workflow. Live game production has been lifted by data-driven graphics, the addition of pre and post game analysis, and the use of non-traditional video and audio capture for multiple screens, social media, and cinematic recaps. This takes planning and skill and results in a much deeper fan engagement. I'm looking forward to a very competitive final round of judging and excited to see the winners announced in Atlanta."
SVG, partnering with the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA), will announce the winners at the SVG College Summit in Atlanta, Georgia, on May 28. The SVG College Media Awards featured the most entries in the program's 17-year history.
