Drury Men's Rugby Falls to Southern Nazarene

BETHANY, Okla. -- Drury men's rugby dropped a 56-21 decision to Southern Nazarene in an NCR Division 1 crossover matchup Saturday.

The Panthers were challenged not only by the host Red Storm, but also harsh weather conditions, with temperatures in the upper 90's coupled with substantial humidity. The Panthers found themselves in an early 28-point hole, after the Red Storm capitalized on Drury's two sin bin bookings that left them shorthanded for a total of 20 minutes, which proved to be pivotal in shaping the course of the match.

Daniel Kotov turned in one of his best performances as a Panther, despite the final outcome.

"This past Saturday certainly didn't go as scripted," Drury head coach Bryan Bevel stated. "We made some critical decisions on the pitch that led to several shorthanded scores that needed to be avoided."

Looking ahead, Drury (1-2) will face Arkansas this Saturday (Sept. 20) at Springfield Rugby Facility.
