BEAVER FALLS, Pa. –  Drury triathlon finished third overall and first place among NCAA Division II schools at the Duquesne Invitational in its season opener.
 
The Panthers opened the 2025 season with a third-place overall finish and were the top NCAA-II school in Beaver Falls. Eszter Vas was the frontrunner for Drury, finishing third overall with a time of 1:03:35. Alexis Workman and Kristina Vestman both placed in the top 10. Workman finished in fifth with a time of 1:04:14, and Vestman took home sixth with a time of 1:04:43. In her first race for Drury, freshman Cayman Barnes posted a time of 1:07:06, finishing 19^th overall. 
 
The Duquesne Invitational featured teams from all three NCAA divisions. Drury finished third with a team score of 55. The Naval Academy won the race with a team score of 37, and host Duquesne placed second with a score of 49. Vas, Workman, and Vestman were the top Division II times. 
 
HIGHLIGHTS

• Eszter Vas set a new personal best at Drury with her time of 1:03:35.
• Vas moved into second all-time in sprint races in Drury history.
• Alexis Workman set a new personal best with a time of 1:04:14.
• Workman is the fourth fastest all-time.
• Freshman Cayman Barnes moves into 10^th all-time in her first race as a Panther.
• Tarryn Brumley set a new personal best with her time of 1:07:53, finishing 22^nd.
• Brumley moved into 12^th all-time.
• Mayumi Shinozuka finished 25^th with a time of 1:08:18.
• In her first race as a Panther, Sherbi Maharjan placed 34^th with a time of 1:11:25.
• Marked head coach Terry Dean's first competition leading the Panthers.

"The entire team was fantastic today," head coach Terry Dean said. "It shows that the hard work we are putting in is already paying off as we build toward NCAA Nationals in November."

Drury will compete in the Prairie State Cup on Saturday, Oct. 4, in Clinton, Ill. The first heat starts at 9:15 a.m.
