INDIANAPOLIS – Drury wrestling opened the 2026 calendar year with a 29-12 loss to No. 20 Indianapolis on Wednesday, Jan. 7.
The Panthers were led by Hunter Tennison, who picked up an 11-3 major decision win over No. 5 Cale Gray at 285 pounds. Tennison took an early lead with a three-point takedown in the first period and allowed just one point on an escape. Another takedown in the second period put the Ozark, Mo. native up 6-1 going into the final period. Tennison added a third takedown to seal his fifth win of the season.
Gaven Bremenkamp and Nate Wishne also put up strong performances at 165 and 141 pounds. Bremenkamp earned three takedowns and two reversals to earn a 16-4 major decision. Wishne took down his opponent four times and allowed only two escape points to win by major decision, 16-2.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Bremenkamp's major decision put Drury up 4-3 after two bouts.
- Indianapolis then won three straight at 174, 184, and 197 pounds.
- Tennison upset No. 5 Cale Gray, putting Drury down 17-8.
- Drury lost the next two bouts at 125 and 133 pounds before Wishne earned the third and final win for the Panthers.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Wishne leads the team in major decisions with six and has 15 wins this season.
- Bremenkamp hit 10 wins on the season and leads the team in falls with six.
- Tennison earned his fifth win of the season.
