SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Drury wrestling is set for the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Championship Tournament, hosted by Quincy, on Sunday, Feb. 15, starting at 10 a.m. 
 
The Panthers rank sixth in the GLVC standings and will face No. 3 Maryville in the first round of the tournament. The Saints were receiving votes in the latest NWCA rankings and have two wrestlers ranked in the top 15 in the country at 174 and 197 pounds. 
 
In the first meeting this season, Maryville downed Drury 23-15 in Springfield. Mason Knight, Gaven Bremenkamp, and Hunter Tennison each earned major decisions in their matchups. Nate Wishne added a 4-1 decision to the Panthers' team score. Drury lost four matches by decision, along with a technical fall and a pin against the nationally ranked duo. 
 
The GLVC Tournament begins at 10 a.m. with both quarterfinal matches. The winners of matches one and two will advance to the semifinals, while the losers will compete for fifth place. Drury will either advance to face No. 2 Upper Iowa or compete against the loser of No. 4 Indianapolis vs. No. 5 Quincy. 
 
SERIES HISTORY VS. MARYVILLE

  • Maryville leads the all-time series 10-1. 
  • The Panthers fell to the Saints earlier this season, 23-15. 
  • Drury's win against Maryville came during the 2022-23 season, when the Panthers won 21-19 at the GLVC Championships. 
 
STORYLINES
  • Brady Griffin leads the Panthers with 24 wins, including a team-high nine falls and eight decisions.
  • Garrett Salt stands at 19 wins with eight technical falls and four technical falls.
  • Wishne has 18 wins with a team-high seven major decisions.
  • Jeremiah Halter also has 18 wins and leads the team with eight technical falls.
  • Bryson Humphries and Cole Robertson both have 17 wins this season.
  • Knight stands at 14 wins with five falls and three major decisions.
  • Bremenkamp has 12 wins, half of them by fall.
  • Hunter Tennison is at 11 wins, also with six falls.
  • Dylan Roth has seven wins this season, including three technical falls.
  • Drury is 2-11 in duals this season. 
  • The Panthers placed fifth at last year's GLVC Championships.
  • James Reynolds is in his 10th season as head coach.
