LEADING OFF:

  • Drury will celebrate its 20th season of varsity competition since the program's reinstatement in 2007.
  • Drury is ranked No. 24 in this week's ABCA Coaches Poll, after earning its first national ranking since March 2023 with last week's inclusion of the Panthers at No. 17 in the same poll.
  • Drury pounded out 23 hits in Sunday's 12-7 win over UCO, marking the Panthers' top single-game hit total since March 2022.
  • DU is led by 14th-year head coach Scott Nasby, who has compiled an overall mark of 372-278-1 as the Panthers' all-time winningest coach.
  • The Panthers own a cumulative 69-46 overall record against their three opponents this weekend, including a 40-28 edge vs. Missouri S&T, an 11-6 advantage vs. Washburn and an 18-12 mark vs. Indianapolis.
  • LHP Joey Funk fanned three batters while blanking UCO on five hits over 6.0 innings of relief Saturday; the senior has allowed just three runs over a team-leading 13.1 innings spanning three appearances this season.
  • OF Connor Bain broke into DU's career top 10 for home runs with his 14th round-tripper as a Panther in Sunday's victory over UCO.
  • Drury posted a 9-7 victory over No. 2 UCM on Feb. 10, matching the program's highest-ranked victory (March 2, 2019 vs. No. 2 Augustana).
  • Fans are reminded that Mark Worley Field at Meador Park is a CASHLESS FACILITY and transactions are limited to credit/debit card and mobile wallet platforms.

SERIES HISTORY

  • The Panthers bring a cumulative 69-46 record against their three opponents into Friday's action.
  • DU has gone 18-12 all-time vs. Indianapolis, including four wins in six total meetings last spring.
  • The Panthers are 11-6 all-time vs. Washburn, with their last meeting occurring in February 2017, when the two clubs split a four-game set at US Baseball Park in Ozark.
  • Drury is 40-28 vs. Missouri S&T, with the two programs splitting their 2025 four-game GLVC series last April in Rolla.

LAST TIME OUT

  • Drury rebounded from its first shutout setback of the season in a big way, as the Panthers scored in six different innings and pounded out 23 hits in a 12-7 victory in the final game of their series with Central Oklahoma Sunday afternoon in Edmond, Okla.
  • Eight different Panther hitters recorded multi-hit performances in the victory, including the trio of Connor Bain, Logan Reidelberger and Colin McClure, who combined for 10 hits and nine runs batted-in on the afternoon.
  • McClure delivered a career-best four-hit effort, while Jackson Crider registered the game-tying RBI-double in the second inning, before Bain belted a back-breaking grand slam that turned a one-run DU lead into an 8-3 advantage that the Bronchos would never seriously threaten.
  • The Panthers' 23 hits marked their top single-game output since March 19, 2022, when Drury also recorded 23 hits in a 22-3 win over Southern Indiana.

STARTING FAST

  • The Panthers have successfully swiped 15 bases in 19 attempts so far this season.
  • Drury has also scored 57 runs on 88 hits over their first seven contests, giving it averages of 8.1 runs and 12.6 hits per game.
  • DU's run total marks its third-best over the first seven games of any season, trailing only the 2022 club's 86 runs scored through seven contests.
  • Drury's 4-0 start to the season was its best since winning 10 in a row to start the 2022 campaign.
  • That same 2022 start is the only previous time the Panthers have won their first four games in their 20 years as a varsity NCAA Division II program.
BAIN CLIMBING THE DU CHARTS
  • Senior OF Connor Bain entered his final season as a Panther with the opportunity to leave a lasting imprint in the DU record book.
  • Bain brings a .317 career batting average and 130 runs scored into the weekend, with the latter total ranking 12th in DU history.
  • He also cracked the top 10 on DU's career home run chart with his 14th round-tripper as a Panther in Sunday's victory at UCO, matching the DU total of Caleb Cole and pulling to within 11 homers of Luke Burk's program record.
  • Additionally, Bain has swiped 45 bases to tie for seventh on the Panthers' career list, which is 32 shy of Nick Thimesch's program record of 77.
  • Bain also ranks among DU's all-time leaders in walks (77) and needs just 14 more hits to break into the Panthers' career top 10 list, with 179 to his credit.
PANTHERS IN THE POLLS
  • Following its upset of No. 2 UCM on Feb. 10 and a 4-0 start to the new season, Drury cracked the national rankings Feb. 17 with its citation as the No. 17 team in the American Baseball Coaches Association's NCAA Division II Poll.
  • The national ranking for the Panthers marked their first in any of the major polls this season, as well as the program's first top 25 ranking since March 2023.
  • DU checked into the ABCA poll again this week as the lone GLVC representative at No. 24
