INDIANAPOLIS — On the heels of a standout relief effort in Drury baseball's conference-opening win over Lewis on Friday, freshman left-hander Anthony Vita was honored as the Athletic Solutions Great Lakes Valley Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week on Monday.

Vita turned in 6 2/3 innings of scoreless relief in the Panthers' 8-7 win over Lewis to open the 2026 GLVC slate. The Joliet, Ill., product entered the game with one out in the first inning after DU starter Kaleb Thomas left the game due to an apparent injury. After surrendering a base hit to the first Lewis hitter he faced, Vita dispatched the next six Flyers in succession and nine of the next 10 opposing batters overall. In all, he scattered six hits and fanned four hitters to earn his first career victory as a Panther.

The honor is the first GLVC Pitcher of the Week award for Vita, and the fourth weekly citation for a Panther this season, following the selections of Connor Bain and Coleman Morrison for the league's player and pitcher of the week honors, respectively, on Feb. 9, and Jackson Crider's reognition as player of the week on March 2.

LOOKING AHEAD
The Panthers travel to Pittsburg, Kan., Tuesday (March 17) for a 3 p.m., non-conference matchup against No. 1 Pittsburg State.
