Played in 37 games and made 28 starts at second base for the Panthers…He hit .266 with 17 hits and scored 16 runs…Scored a career-high four runs at Truman State…Also saw action on the mound for the Panthers, going 4-3 on the year with a 5.13 ERA in 13 appearances and struck out 30 batters…Fanned a career-high six batters vs. Lyon...named to
GLVC All-Academic team.
2017
Saw time on the infield and on the mound in his freshman season…He hit .278 with five hits, scored five runs and had three RBIs and three walks…Scored two runs in the Panthers win over
McKendree and had two hits in games vs. Missouri S&T and at Arkansas-Ft. Smith…On the mound, Avery made 16 appearances, and went 1-4 with a win over nationally ranked Central Missouri…Had a 4.76 ERA in 56.2 innings of action and posted 16 strikeouts…Had three strikeouts in games vs. Washburn, at William Jewell, and vs.
Maryville.
HIGH SCHOOL
Avery comes to Drury from Columbia Rock Bridge High School where he was the team MVP and Defensive MVP...Avery earned Second Team All-State as a Utility infielder in 2016 and earned All-District honors as well as being named a
MSHSAA All-Star...Earned All-Area honors in 2015...In 2016 he was named to the Perfect Game Central Region Honorable Mention team and threw a no hitter at the Perfect Game Spring Swing in Atlanta against the Illinois State Champions Morgan Park High School...Hit .364 with a .521 on base percentage and ranked sixth all-time in career hits at Rock Bridge...On the mound he had a 1.27 ERA over 44 innings going 6-1 with one save, 37 strikeouts, seven walks and a .975 fielding percentage as a senior and a .963 fielding percentage as a junior...Helped Rock Bridge capture the 2014 Class 5 State title which was the school's first state championship...Was on pair of Rock Bridge District winners in 2014 and 2015 and was on Rock Bridge team that was ranked
24th in the nation by Baseball America in 2015...Was a three year
letterwinner at Rock Bridge...An excellent student Jennings graduated with high honors and was a member of the National Honor Society.
