Son of Jack and Leea Reed.

AT DRURY...
SOPHOMORE

Payton earned first team All-Great Lakes Valley Conference honors and was a Second Team All-ABCA Midwest Region selection . . . Reed also earned the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association NCAA Division II National Player of the Week award and the GLVC Player of the Week honors for the Panthers road series at Maryville . . . Reed hit .733 in a four-game sweep of Maryville with seven hits in 10 plate appearances, while registering a 1.600 slugging percentage and a .733 on base percentage . . . Payton homered three times, drove home 10 RBIs, scored seven runs and was walked four times for that week. . .  In Saturday's 11-2 opener Reed was 3-for-3, blasted a pair of homers and had three hits, three RBIs, three runs scored and one walk.  He followed that game up with his third homer of the day in the 11-6 nightcap win for two RBIs and was walked twice in his one at bat. . . Payton scored a career high three runs at Maryville (May 3). . . He had a career high two doubles vs. McKendree (March 22) and matched his career high and the Drury single game record with two homers at Maryville . . . On the season Payton was fifth in the GLVC and 97th in the nation for RBIs per game at 0.91 and was fifth in the GLVC and 108th nationally with 43 RBIs . . . Reed tied for ninth in the GLVC and was 134th in that nation with six homers and ranked eighth in the GLVC and 156 in the nation for homers per game (0.13) . . . He posted a .480 slugging percentage and a .408 on base percentage  . . . Reed hit .322 on the season with 25 runs, 49 hits, 23 walks, six doubles and was hit by pitch once . . . His six homers were seventh most by a Panther in a season.

REDSHIRT FRESHMAN
The GLVC Freshman of the Year, a First Team All-GLVC selection, Second Team NCBWA All-Midwest Region selection and a Third Team ABCA/Rawlings All-American, Payton had a great season while leading the GLVC and Drury in both batting average (.399), second best ever by a Panther, and doubles (18) which tied him for third most in a season by a Panther . . . Earned GLVC Player of the Week honors and hit .500 (14-for-28) for the week with an. 857 slugging percentage, while tallying 14 hits, 16 RBIs, four doubles, four runs scored, a pair of homers, and three walks in 28 at bats at the Panthers' designated hitter slot . . . Tied the DU single game record with 11 total bases vs. Rockhurst (4/29/13) . . . His seven RBIs vs. Rockhurst (4/29/13) tied him for second most in a game by a Panther . . . He also boasted a .548 on-base percentage for the week . . . That week Reed went 4-for-6 with a double, two homers, and seven RBI against Rockhurst, while he finished a combined 6-for-14 with four RBI against William Jewell . . . Had a .484 on base percentage which was third best for a season by a Panther and had a .575 slugging percentage which ranks fourth best in the GLVC in 2013, fifth best for a season by a Panther and 109th nationally. . . Reed was 36th in the nation for batting average and 41st in the nation for doubles . . . Was 68th nationally for doubles per game (0.35) . . . Broke the DU school record with seven RBIs in game vs. Rockhurst on April 29th . . . Boasted 16 and 13 game hitting streaks for 2013 . . . Led DU with a .484 on base percentage and was third in the GLVC and 53rd nationally . . . Payton finished third on the team and fourth in the GLVC with 46 RBIs which was 87th nationally and tied him for third most for a single season at DU . . . Was 106th for RBIs per game in the nation (0.9) . . . Was 41st in the nation and fifth on the team with 53 runs good for 68th nationally for runs per game (0.35) . . . Had two homers vs. Rockhurst (4/29/13) which tied the DU single game record and homered vs. Lewis (5/16/13) in Regionals . . . Was walked 25 times, fifth most for a single season at DU, with a season high two three times.

FRESHMAN
Played in five games and hit .250 with a hit vs. McKendree (3/4/12) in four at bats. . . Scored runs vs. McKendree (3/3/12 and 3/4/12) and was walked in the McKendree game (3/3/12). . . Also saw action in games at Illinois-Springfield (4/7/12), vs. Saint Joseph's (3/17/12) and vs. Washburn (2/25/12).

PREP...
Earned First Team All-Conference, All-District and was named to the All-Ozarks team. . . Was the Lead Off Club Offensive Player-of-the-Year and was named Second Team All-State by the Team Prep Baseball Report. . . Second Team All-State Missouri Sportswriters and Sportscasters Association. . . Helped Kickapoo to an Ozark Conference title and hit .455 with eight homers, 15 doubles, 40 RBIs, 22 runs and 19 walks while only striking out five times in 88 at bats in 2011. . . Helped Kickapoo to two Ozark Conference titles in 2010 and 2011. . . In 2009-10 he helped the Chiefs to a Co-Ozark Conference title, hit .355 and was named to the All-Kickapoo Tournament team, the SABA All-Star team and Elite Team honoree. . . Also played basketball four years, was a two year letterwinner and was on the 2011 Ozark Conference Champion team.
