Sam Briscoe will enter his third season as an assistant coach with the Panthers in 2021-22. Briscoe spent the last two years as a graduate assistant, and moves into a full-time role on the staff this season.Â
In 2020-21, he helped the team through a year plagued by the COVID-19 pandemic. The Panthers went 11-10 and advanced to the championship game of the Great Lakes Valley Conference tournament. The team also produced two All-GLVC selections with Conley Garrison and sophomore Jason Montgomery. Garrison was also named an All-Midwest Region pick, and earned honors as an Academic All-American.Â
His first year on the Panthers bench saw Drury go 20-9 Â and the squad also earned a GLVC Team Academic Award posting a grade-point-average of 3.56.Â

Briscoe was the head coach for junior varsity squad as well as a varsity assistant coach at De Smet Jesuit High School in St. Louis, Missouri last year. He has spent three years with the St. Louis Gateway Basketball Club serving as a head coach for the under-16 team, and the under-15 squad, as well as an assistant for the under-17 team. Briscoe has also been a skills instructor for Pure Sweat Basketball based in Columbia, Missouri, and the Bazzell Basketball Academy.

The St. Charles, Missouri native will also be familiar with the Great Lakes Valley Conference having played two seasons at Rockhurst University from 2014-16. He was a four-year letterman in high school at Duchesne Academy where he set the school’s all-time record in assists, and he was a three-time all-conference selection.

Briscoe transferred to the University of Missouri after two years at Rockhurst and graduated from Mizzou’s online program in 2019 with a degree in Business Administration.
