Mountain View-Birch Tree Liberty High School standout Derek Daniels, a 6-foot-5, 215-pound who played forward for the Eagles averaged 30.1 points and 13.2 rebounds per game as a junior in a season cut short by injury. . . Daniels had averaged 21.7 points and 10.0 rebounds his sophomore year, when he was named the South Central Association most valuable player, and poured in 17.3 points and grabbed 9.1 rebounds as a freshman for Liberty High. . . Earned All-State honors three times, was named the Conference MVP twice, earned seven Tournament MVP honors and was a four-time All-District selection. . . Was the Missouri Challenge Champion. . . Daniels also played AAU ball with the Arkansas Wings, national champions this past summer in the 17-and-under category in Orlando, Fla., after going 9-0 in the tournament field of 204 teams.
