PREP/PREVIOUS SCHOOL...
The 6-foot-6, 220-pound Maxwell will have one season of eligibility with the Panthers after playing three seasons with the Redhawks of Southeast Missouri State...Maxwell played 27 games and started seven last season for SEMO, averaging 5.4 points and 3.1 rebounds and finishing second on the team with 12 blocked shots in his nearly 14 minutes per game as Maxwell and the Redhawks made the transition to new head coach Dickey Nutt...As a sophomore, Maxwell played in 38 games and made 15 starts for the Redhawks, averaging 7.2 points and 6.0 rebounds per game and had two double-doubles, including a 13-point, 10-rebound effort against Kansas State in November, 2008...He also had a 17-point game that season against Tennessee State and a 16-point, 8-rebound effort against Bradley...He picked up double-figure rebounds five times in 2008-09 - snagging 13 against Eastern Kentucky, 11 vs. Longwood and 10 each against K-State, Eastern Illinois and Austin Peay...Maxwell suffered a season-ending knee injury and redshirted in 2007-08, but played in 30 games and started three as a true freshman in 2006-07, averaging 5.1 points and 2.9 rebounds and scoring a game-high 15 points when the Redhawks played Big Ten Conference member Purdue, which followed a 14-point night against Big 12 member Iowa State in the previous contest, when he also sank three 3-pointers in the latter...  Maxwell hails from Raytown, Mo., where he was recruited by the DU basketball coaching staff out of high school after averaging 15 pionts and 10 rebounds and earning all-state honors his senior season while battling illness...Maxwell averaged 18 points and 12 rebounds his junior campaign at Raytown...He was a McDonald's All-America nominee and was named the conference MVP at Raytown High School.
