PREP...Nwelue (pronounced New-well--ooh-way), a former prep standout at Lewisville (Texas) High School, averaged 10.4 points and 7.2 rebounds as a sophomore for a Southwestern Assemblies of God team that won a school-record 33 games and lost to Georgetown, Ky., in the NAIA Division I national title game in late March . . . Nwelue had 11 double-figure rebound games for the Waxahachie, Texas school, including a single-game high of 14, and also had two games of 20 or more points, including a season-high 21 . . . Had a 21 point, 11 board and three block game in the Final Four game for Southwestern Assemblies of God and earned All-Tournament honors . . . Broke the school record for most dunks in a game with seven . . . Led Southwestern in rebounding and blocks and was second in scoring . . . Helped Southwestern to a No. 2 National ranking and a Red River Athletic Conference title . . . Southwestern led all of NAIA in rebounding (1,608) and they earned NAIA National Champions of Character Award . . . As a junior and senior at Lewisville High School he was an All-District selection and MVP of the Arlington Classic . . .
