One of the Panthers top runners, Derek was 36th at the Great Lakes Valley Conference Championships with an 8K time of 26:23. . . Was 80th at the NCAA-II Midwest Regional with a 10K time of 33:40.30 and finished 81st in the opening meet of the year at the Southwest Baptist Twilight with a 5K time of 26:38.90. . . His 10K time at the Arkansas Chile Pepper Festival of 32:52.33 was 10th fastest ever by a Panther.

Competed in two meets for the Panthers with a 35th place at the GLVC/MIAA Challenge (26:01.7) and at the Missouri Southern State Stampede with an 8K time of 26:20.30.
