Finished second twice on the season, once in the mile at the Kansas/Bob Timmons Challenge in the mile (4:34.21) and once in the 1,500 Meter at the Missouri Southern State Bill Williams/Bob Laptad Invitational (4:00.40) . . . Kevin was 10th in the 1,500 Meter at the Pittsburg State/Wendy's Invitational, was 10th in the 5,000 Meter at the St. Louis Billiken Invitational and was 10th in the mile at the Mizzou Collegiate Challenge.

FRESHMAN
One of the Panthers top runners in the 1500 meter and the mile, Kevin ran a 3:58.54 and won the 1500 meter at the Missouri S&T/Dewey Allgood Invitational for the best outdoor time of the year by a Panther. . . Abernathy ran a 15:38.70 for fifth place at the Missouri Southern State/Bill Williams/Bob Laptad Invitational which was the second best outdoor time by a DU runner on the year. . . Placed third in the 1500 meter at the Bison Invitational hosted by Harding with a time of 4:04.18. . . Was sixth at the GLVC Outdoor Championship in the 1500 meter (4:01.57).

In Track and Field he was a two-time All-State selection in the 1600 Meter and was the anchor for the 4x800 Meter Relay team as a senior. . . Set a school record in the 1600 Meter in 2011 and earned the team's leadership award and was named most valuable runner in 2010. . . Team's Rookie of the Year in 2009 as a sophomore. . . Personal best in 1600 Meter in 4:16.6 and personal best in the 3200 Meter is 9:38. . . In Cross Country was an All-State selection for Class 4A for DeSmet High School and placed 16th at state his senior season. . . St. Louis Post Dispatch and St. Louis Track Club All-Metro Teams his senior season. . . Was the district champion for Missouri Class 4 District in 2010. . . Two-time First Team All-Metro Catholic Conference selection junior and senior seasons. . . Two-Time Most Valuable Runner in 2009 and 2010. . . Led the team to 15th and 16th straight appearances at the State Meet. . . Had a personal best in the 5K of 16:04 at the Nike Cross Nationals Midwest Regional in 2010. . . Ran for Coach Bryan Traughber at DeSmet. . . Earned Post-Dispatch DeSmet Jesuit High School honors, was a member of the National Honor Society and earned the George Washington Carver Award given to those in the top 10 percent of the class.
