JUNIORBreana scored a season high 11 points vs. Illinois-Springfield on February 5th, a game in which she also had season bests of eight rebounds and two assists and matched her season high two steals. . . Baker also had two steals vs. top ranked Lewis on February 12th. . . Played a season high 16 minutes vs. Illinois-Springfield and saw 10 minutes of action vs. both McKendree on February 7th and at Saint Joseph's on January 4th. . . Shot 58.3% from the floor o 21-of-36 shooting and pulled down 40 boards with four assists and four steals in her 19 games.
PREP/PREVIOUS SCHOOL...Breana Baker, a 6-foot-2 post from Southwestern Illinois College and a native of Peoria, Ill., averaged 7.6 points, 6.6 rebounds and 1.3 blocked shots per game last season for the Blue Storm from Belleville, Ill., who finished 23-6 and advanced to the national junior college tournament last season . . . Â She earned All-Region 24 First Team honors for her efforts. . . Baker, who will have two seasons of eligibility with the Lady Panthers, started 28 of SWIC's 29 games and scored in double-figures eight times, with a season-high 14 points vs. John A. Logan on November 26 and grabbed eight or more rebounds 11 times, including a season-high 11 rebounds in that same win over Logan. . . "Bre is the last piece to our puzzle to complete our roster for next year," said Miller, entering her first season at the helm of the Lady Panthers . . . Â "With her in the mix with the posts, we are going to have a nice rotation and really be able to play at the pace I want to play at. . . She is a big, strong presence who will get in there and rebound hard for us. . . Â On film, I saw her block a shot deep in the paint and then beat everyone else down the floor to the opposite end. . . Â I like those kind of big kids.". . . Baker was a Class 3A/4A All-State Special Mention selection as a senior at Richwoods High School in Peoria. She becomes the fourth transfer and seventh signee overall for the 2014-15 recruiting class for the Lady Panthers, who finished 27-4 last season and advanced to the NCAA-II Elite Eight in Erie, Pa., falling to eventual national champion Bentley in the quarterfinals.
