Destiny Smith

Destiny Smith will start her third year as a Lady Panthers assistant coach in 2025-26.

During Smith's second season, Drury went 22-7, earning the second seed in the GLVC with a 17-3 record. Bailey's Lady Panthers earned four all-GLVC selections, including all-American Caitlynn Daniels. 

Smith's first season at Drury saw the Lady Panthers go 25-7, 18-4 in conference play, and the program reached the NCAA-II Tournament for the 21st time in team history. Drury also produced four All-GLVC performers, including Reese Schaaff, who was the GLVC and Midwest Region Player of the Year in addition to being named an All-American.  

During the summer of 2025, Smith assisted Kaci Bailey in the USA D2 WBB Tour in Brazil. Three Lady Panthers were also members of the team, Kaylee King, Sara Mendal, and Rhi Gibbons. 

Smith joined the coaching staff from Garden City Community College, where she was an assistant last year. She served as the head coach for the girls' basketball program at Whitney High School in Whitney, Texas, and posted an 81-40 record in four seasons. Her teams won two Bi-District championships and reached the Area finals twice.
 
Smith was an assistant coach for the girls' team at Mexia High School in Texas from 2016-18 and helped the team to two Bi-District titles.
 
Originally from Mount Pleasant, Texas, Smith played for Henderson State while current Drury head coach Kaci Bailey was on the coaching staff, including the 2012-13 season while Bailey was the interim head coach. Smith averaged 14.4 points and 11.4 rebounds as a senior for the Reddies and was an All-Great American Conference selection. Prior to Henderson State, she played two seasons at Paris Community College in Texas, where she was an all-region and all-conference selection.
 
Smith graduated from Henderson State in 2014 with a degree in Physical Education.Â
