HIGH SCHOOL
Joe was a four-time Colorado state finalist and three-time state champion.   While at Centauri High School...Chavez helped lead the Falcons to two top three team finishes, along the way being recognized for the Academic All- State team award his freshman and sophomore years...While wrestling for Alamosa High School his junior and senior years he led the Moose to two state team titles and won the Outstanding Wrestler award at the Colorado State tournament and the Colorado 3A Wrestler of the Year at the Colorado hall of fame wrestling banquet...He was a four-time wrestling All-State selection...Posted season records of: Freshman: 42-7, Sophomore:  44-4, Junior: 46-4 and Senior: 44-4
