SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Antoine Vial's hat trick propelled Drury to a 3-0 win over 16th ranked Missouri S&T on Wednesday at Harrison Stadium.
The win clinched home field advantage in the Great Lakes Valley Conference tournament quarterfinals on Sunday for the Panthers. Drury ends the regular season 11-3-3 and 9-3-3 in the league. Missouri S&T suffered their first loss of the year in the GLVC and dropped to 10-2-6 and 9-1-5 in the league.
Vial scored a pair of goals in the first half. His first came on a free kick 35 yards out in the 23rd minute. He scored 12 minutes later driving the ball into the net from 10 yards away. In the second half, Vial converted a penalty kick in the 66th minute for the hat trick.
Vial, a junior from Sete, France, scored the Drury's first hat trick since Shane Woods scored three goals against Southwest Baptist on Sept. 3, 2012. The Panthers last hat trick against a conference opponent came on Oct. 10, 2010 when Micah Horton had three goals against Kentucky Wesleyan.
Drury outshot Missouri S&T 10-2 in the first half and 12-6 for the game.
The Panthers finished fourth in the GLVC and will host fifth place Quincy (11-4-2, 9-4-2) on Sunday at Harrison Stadium / Curry Sports Complex. Game time will be announced later this week.
